P.W. Akkerman #16 Oranje Boven 60ml
The Akkerman "baby long neck" bottles have a capacity of approximately 60 ml. The faceted ink bottle is characterized by a long neck containing a glass marble.
Akkerman fountain pen inks are suitable for any type of fountain pen and have been given names from the Hague
By tilting the unique (closed) ink bottle, the neck fills with ink. Tip it upright again and the marble falls back in place, preventing the ink from flowing back. This creates a reservoir of ink from which the fountain pen can easily be filled, even when the bottle is almost empty.
The song Orange above probably originated in the late 19th century, when Queen Emma became regent of the Netherlands from 1890-1898. In the Second World War, the song was frequently sung as a sign of resistance. Later the song was often sung on Queen's Day and Prince's Day, when the Queen visited the country, or at sports competitions. After the change of the throne in 2013, a king came back to the throne in the Netherlands for the first time in more than 120 years. The lyrics of the song were not appropriate for this, so the use of the song decreased.
